Roar! "Water"
Music Video
Creative Brief
We worked with the breakout alt electronic duo ROAR! and long-time collaborators, the Positive Vibrations Foundation, to create two unique music videos for the band’s debut album, La-di-da. Water leans heavily on the costuming and craft-making traditions of New Orleans, bringing ROAR! duo Carly Meyers & Adam Gertner into a human-size aquarium with a cast of colorful sea creatures. The video combines live-action characters shot on a sound stage and miniatures puppets to create a home-made aesthetic of whimsy and childlike imagination.

PROCESS
After working with Adam & Carly to develop a storyboard, the shoot was scheduled at a sound stage in New Orleans. To handle prop and costume fabrication, we brought on talented costume-designer Shel Roumillat of the New Orleans Costume Center and worked with the band and producers Ben Faulks, Monique Pyle and Bill Ramsey to arrange all the details of the shoot including cast and crew, grip and lighting packages, art department, special effects, scheduling and insurance.
After an expedited pre-production period, shooting commenced over two days. Practical and greenscreen material was captured in HD or 4K. Dailes and editorial copies were created in-house.
